Our Preschool Day
Every day in preschool is an opportunity to learn, explore, create, and grow. Our classrooms offer a balance of teacher-guided learning, hands-on activities, active play, and time to build friendships. Children learn through experiences that support the whole child—socially, emotionally, physically, and academically.
Preschool at the Complex provides opportunities for children to:
-
Explore & Discover
Our preschool trail, outdoor classroom, and nature-based experiences encourage children to ask questions, make discoveries, and develop a connection with the natural world. Our Science and Nature Program takes learning outdoors through hands-on exploration and age-appropriate experiments and activities.
-
Learn Through Play
Children build early academic skills through engaging, hands-on experiences that introduce letters, sounds, numbers, counting, colors, shapes, and other age-appropriate concepts. Learning happens through individual activities, small-group experiences, and large-group instruction, giving children opportunities to learn at their own pace while also practicing how to participate as part of a group.
-
Build Friendships & Life Skills
Preschool is about much more than academics. Children learn to share, take turns, listen, cooperate, solve problems, and work and play with others. Teachers provide encouragement, positive feedback, and guidance throughout the day as children develop confidence, independence, and respect for those around them.
-
Create & Imagine
Stories, poetry, books, and dramatization encourage children to use their imaginations and develop language skills. Through art, painting, music, and creative play, children have opportunities to express themselves, explore new ideas, and let their creativity shine.
-
Grow Strong & Move
Active play is an important part of every preschool day. Our Playball Program, outdoor play, gym time, and classroom movement help children develop strength, balance, coordination, and gross motor skills while introducing teamwork and good sportsmanship.
Children also enjoy water play in our indoor pool, where they can build confidence and coordination while having fun in a safe, supportive environment.
-
Develop Skills for School & Life
Hands-on materials such as clay, play-dough, crayons, markers, scissors, and other manipulatives help strengthen fine motor skills and coordination. Together, these experiences give children the foundation they need to become confident, capable learners and prepare them for the next stage of their educational journey.
Preschool Classes
Our preschool program is designed to meet children where they are developmentally, with experiences that grow with them throughout their preschool years and prepare them for kindergarten.

3-Year-Old Preschool
We offer flexible 3-day and 5-day programs for three-year-olds.
-
3-Day Program: Monday, Wednesday & Friday, 8:45 a.m.–12:00 p.m.
-
5-Day Program: Monday–Friday, 8:45 a.m.–12:00 p.m.
Our three-year-old program is designed to provide a warm and welcoming introduction to preschool, particularly for children who are experiencing their first group setting away from home. Through hands-on activities, play, and meaningful interactions with teachers and classmates, children begin developing the confidence and independence they need to thrive in a classroom environment.
The day includes opportunities for language and listening development, fine and gross motor activities, dramatic play, creative arts, literature, music, and social interaction. Children learn to follow directions, participate in a group, share, take turns, and build positive relationships with others—all while having fun and discovering the joy of learning.

4-Year-Old Preschool
We offer flexible 3-day and 5-day programs for four-year-olds.
-
3-Day Program: Monday, Wednesday & Friday, 8:45 a.m.–12:30 p.m.
-
5-Day Program: Monday–Friday, 8:45 a.m.–12:30 p.m.
Our four-year-old program builds on the skills children developed in their earlier preschool years, with an increased focus on kindergarten readiness. Children continue to learn through play and hands-on experiences while developing early academic, social, and self-help skills.
Children practice letter and sound recognition, counting, number recognition, language and listening skills, problem-solving, and group participation. They also continue to develop fine and gross motor skills through creative arts, dramatic play, music, movement, and active play.
As children prepare for kindergarten, they are given increasing opportunities to work independently, follow multi-step directions, participate in group activities, and solve problems. Teachers provide intentional instruction, encouragement, and positive feedback throughout the day, helping each child build the confidence, independence, and skills needed for a successful transition to kindergarten.
